Wahl Eversharp Doric Fountain Pens

The Wahl-Eversharp Pen Company, may not have always been a trendsetter but they were very responsive once a trend in design was set and they answered with some of the most beatiful designs ever put into a fountain pen.

Soon after Sheaffer came out with their trendsetting "Balance" streamlined, tapered pens, The Wahl Eversharp Company came up with a very similar design, so similar in fact that it is reputed to have brought on an infringement law suit or the searious threat thereof. Wahl Eversharp gave up that design and quickly retooled to come up with a replacement. This process took 2 years including a (now very collectible) makeshift design before they settled on their final Equipoised model. Their final Equipoised pens were sleek and handsome.

Spurred on perhaps by their Equipoised faux-pas, and at least because tastes were evolving rapidly, they created and produced an original design that has stood the test of time and remains perhaps the quintessential Art Deco plastic writing instrument - The Doric. The Doric set a creative tone for Wahl Eversharp as it was a true triumph not to be outdone until their Skyline models a few years hence.
